A         Flowering Pak Choi Yu Choy Sum – plant one every 2 weeks until space is filled; replace every 3 months

B         Broccoli Di Cicco, replaced by New Zealand Spinach – plant every 3 months

C         Summer Squash (Lemon & Coosa) – plant one of each type every other month; – also plant one of each in a large self-watering container

D         Mustard (Garnet Giant & Japanese Giant Red) – plant a little every month; also plant some in self–watering containers

Q         Long Beans Chinese Red Noodle – plant every 4 months

SW box:

E          Bulbing Fennel – plant a little every 2 weeks; border with Onions (Japanese Bunching Menegi) – plant once for the season – use thinnings

F          Chard (Lucullus & Japanese Umaina) – plant a little each week;       border with Carrots – plant every 3 months; also plant some in deep containers

G         Kohlrabi (Granlibakken & Early Vienna Purple) – plant every 3 months; border with Celery Leaf – plant a little every month; also plant some in self–watering containers

H         Pak Choi (Green Stem & Tatsoi Savoy) replaced by  Lagos Spinach – plant a little Chard each week, Lagos Spinach every 3 months; border with Parsley – plant a little each week; also plant some in containers

R         Rattlesnake Pole Bean replaced by Malabar Spinach – plant either every 3 months

I           Asian Melon (Sakata’s Sweet) – train to grow up teepee – plant every 3–4 months

J           Molokhia – plant every other month

K         Pak Choi / Oriental Greens (Dwarf, Medium, & Taisai) – plant some every week; also plant some in containers

L          Kale (Ethiopian & Lacinato) – plant every other month; also plant some in containers

S          Long Beans Purple Podded Asparagus – plant every 4 months

M         Arugula – plant a little each week; border with Dill – plant some every other week – also plant some in containers

N         Amaranth (All Red Leaf & Orange Giant) – plant some every month; border with Beets – plant some every other week

O         Chard (Flamingo Pink & Oriole Orange) replaced by Jute – plant a little Chard each week, Jute every other month; border with Radishes – plant some every week – also plant some in containers

P          Amaranth (Tiger Eye & Vietnamese Red) – plant some every month; border with Cilantro – plant some every other week –

            also plant some in containers

T          Edible Gourds (Luffa & Italian Cucuzzi Longissima) – train to grow up teepee – plant every 3 months

 

*Snap Beans, Pole Beans, Yard–Long Beans – one support every month (including the arch over the patio door)

Intersperse Garlic everywhere to repel pests

TVA / MP:

Pumpkins (2 types) – plant once for the season

Melons (5 types) – plant once for the season

Collards (2 types) – plant each month

Garden Berries (solanums): Chichiquelite, Huckleberry, Litchi Tomato, Pepino, Wonderberry – plant one or two each once for the season, spread over two plantings

Rattail Radish – plant every other month

 

HC:

Basil – plant one of each type for the season, plus one more Sweet Basil every other month

Bronze Fennel – plant one every 3 months

Containers:

Eggplant – plant one every 3 months in a medium self–watering container

Peppers (8 types) – plant every 3 months – plant one of each type between two large self–watering containers

Tomatoes (12 types) – plant two types a month until all are planted – end with cherry types – plant one each of two types in a large self–watering container, or one each in a medium

Lettuce (5 types) – plant a container each month – would do very well in self–watering containers

Alpine Strawberries – plant once for the season

Standard Strawberries – buy & grow in self–watering strawberry pot

 

Patio:

Cucumbers (9 types) – plant two types a month until all have been planted, then start over – try in medium self–watering containers – plant those that need no pollination on patio, others outside
